Setting up MFA on a new phone is an essential step in ensuring the security of your accounts. However, the process will vary depending on your situation. In this article, we will provide you with step-by-step instructions on how to set up MFA on a new phone for different scenarios.

I got a new phone and still have my old phone:

If you have a new phone but still have your old phone, you can easily set up MFA on your new device. To do so, log in to your SSCC Email account. During the login process, use your old phone to approve MFA.

  • Once logged in, click your profile icon in the upper right corner, then select ‘View Account’.
  • On the My Account page, select ‘UPDATE INFO’ in the Security Info section.
  • In the row that lists Microsoft Authenticator, select the ‘Delete’ button on the right side of that row.
  • Once the old Authenticator is deleted, select ‘+ Add sign-in method’
  • Select ‘Authenticator app’ from the drop down menu. Then select ‘Add’.
  • Download the Microsoft Authenticator app on your new phone.
  • On you web browser, select ‘Next’ on the Start by getting the app window. Then select 'Next’ on the Set up your account window. Your browser will then display a QR code.
  • On the Microsoft Authenticator app on your phone, select ‘Add Account’ then select ‘Work or School Account.’
  • Use your phone to scan the QR code on your browser, then select ' Next’ on the browser.
  • On your phone select ‘Approve’ on the Approve sign-in notification.
  • Your new phone is now registered with your SSCC account.

I got a new phone and still have the same phone number, but don’t have my old phone:

If you have a new phone with the same phone number, updating your MFA settings is straightforward. Start by logging in to your SSCC Email account.
  • Once the only Authenticator is deleted, select ‘+ Add sign-in method’
  • Select ‘Authenticator app’ from the drop down menu. Then select ‘Add’.
  • Download the Microsoft Authenticator app on your new phone.
  • On you web browser, select ‘Next’ on the Start by getting the app window. Then select 'Next’ on the Set up your account window. Your browser will then display a QR code.
  • On the Microsoft Authenticator app on your phone, select ‘Add Account’ then select ‘Work or School Account.’
