When you login to any of your Southern State accounts that utilize Single Sign On (SSO) including Email, Canvas, or MyRecords you will be prompted to configure your MFA login. Please complete the below steps from a desktop or laptop. Please note that MFA will be required for all account access moving forward, therefore completing these steps will permanently establish this feature for your account access. For more information on MFA visit Microsoft's What is: Multifactor Authentication webpage.

  • When signing into your account you will first see the normal Sign in and Enter Password windows. Enter your SSCC @live.sscc.edu email address and select 'Next'. Then enter your password and select 'Sign in'.

  • After selecting 'Sign in' you will be directed to the 'More Information Required' window. Select 'Next' to begin configuring MFA.

  • You will then be directed to the 'Keep your account secure' page. This page will ask you to download the Microsoft Authenticator App on your cell phone:

  • Install the Microsoft authenticator app for Android or iOS on your cell phone.

  • When the Microsoft Authenticator app is installed, navigate back to your web browser, and select 'Next' on the 'Keep your account secure' page.

  • You will then be directed to set up your authenticator account within the phone app. Within the Microsoft Authenticator app, add an account by selecting the plus sign in the top right:

  • Choose 'Work or school account' and select 'Scan QR code' in the pop-up window. DO NOT SELECT THE SIGN IN OPTION.

  • In your web browser, select the 'Next' button on the Set up your account window:

  • Use your phone to scan the QR Code in the Scan QR code window. After scanning the code, your SSCC account will appear from within the app. To continue, select 'Next' on your web browser.

  • Your web browser will then present a number for you to enter in your authenticator app. Select the notification you receive from the Authenticator app to open it, enter the number, and select 'Yes'.

  • After selecting Yes, your web browser will display the notification approved message. On this screen, select 'Next'.

  • You will then be prompted to set up a second method of authentication. Enter your cell phone number and select 'Next":

  • After selecting Next, you will receive a text message on your cell phone. Enter the verification code you received in the text message into the web browser and select 'Next':

  • After selecting Next you will see the "Verification compete. Your phone has been registered" screen. Select 'Next' to continue.

  • You will then see the 'Success' page. Select 'Done' to continue.

  • After selecting Done, you will be taken back to the original login screen. Enter your @live.sscc.edu email address then password. Once that is entered you will receive a notification from Microsoft Authenticator on your cell phone. Click the notification to open the app and enter the number on the web browser, then click 'Yes'.

Once the number is entered and you select Yes, you will be logged into the service you were trying to access. From there you can proceed as normal.
